A foot massage can be pure bliss for the recipient and quite entertaining for the giver - if you have the basic moves down. Here are a few simple techniques that will turn you into a foot rubbing pro. Apply the massage oil or lotion as needed.

Step One
Make a fist with your right hand. Steady the foot with your left hand. Using your knuckles on your right hand, massage the sole. Move your knuckles in small circles; press hard. Continue until the entire sole has been covered.

Step Two
Go over the sole with the thumbs of both hands. Hold the foot in place and work your thumbs in small circles. Thoroughly cover the entire sole.

Step Three
Now work the top of the foot, using your thumbs and going in small circles. Once you reach the ankle, circle the ankle bone itself on either side doing both sides at once. Be energetic.

Step Four
When you reach the end of the heel, gently lift the foot from beneath the ankle with the left and hand work the bottom edge of the heel with the tips of the fingers and thumb of the right hand. Press quite hard.

Step Five
Next, do the toes. Steady the foot with your left hand. With your thumb and forefinger of your right hand - grasp the base of the big toe. Gently pull it, twisting from side to side until your thumb and forefinger slip off the end of the toe. Do each toe.

The sole of your foot has tens of thousands of nerve endings with opposite ends all over the rest of your body. Massaging the foot is an experience which will affect your entire body.
